PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS
- You will be provided and required to wear hearing protection in the form of earplugs and headphones. Music will be provided with exams that allow for it.
- Remove all jewelry and piercings. This includes body jewelry.
- Remove all hair pins, bobby pins, barrettes, alligator clips, wigs, and hair pieces.
- You will be provided a pair of cotton scrubs to change into for your exam. Athletic or dry weave fabrics will not be permitted into the scanner.
- The MRI technologist and the patient ONLY will be permitted into the magnet room per our physicist and MR safety officer.
You will be provided a basket for your personal items upon arrival to our facility. Please empty what you can PRIOR to going to the locker room. Personal items that MUST be removed include but are not limited to:
- Dermal piercings
- Fitness trackers (watches, rings, etc.)
- Metal hair accessories
- Magnetic cosmetics
- Electronic monitors (heart, ankle, etc.)
- Any and all jewelry
- Wallets, credit cards, or any cards with a magnetic strip
- Belts
- Pocket knives
- Box cutters
- Finger nail clippers
- Watches
- Glucose monitors
- Coins
- Keys
